National Archaeological Museum of Athens unveils 1,000 Egyptian artifacts in new permanent exhibition.

ATHENS - Greece’s most visited museum opened a section on another great ancient civilisation on Thursday, unveiling 1,000 Egyptian artifacts including human mummies brought out of storage.

The new permanent exhibition at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens examines the lives of the ancient Egyptians over more than 4,000 years with statues, jewels, and nine mummified humans from the time of the Pharaohs.

“The exhibition aims to present to the visitor the everyday life of the ancient Egyptians” and shows links between Greece’s ancient Hellenic culture and that of Egypt, the culture ministry said in a statement.
