Government to Raise Food Commodities Prior to Ramadan

The government, represented in the holding company for food industries, has decided to increase prices of food commodities prior to the month of Ramadan. The increases, which started on August 18, have included prices of free packed or non packed sugar, meat, fish, poultry and legume.
Prices of Brazilian frozen meat rose for types of calf, shoulder and neck from LE 19 to LE 22 per kg, while some back parts rose from LE 22 to LE 26 per kg. Prices of Indian meat rose from LE 18 to 20 per kg.
Prices of white poultry rose from LE 12.50 to LE 14 per kg. Prices of domestic poultry rose from LE 16 to LE 17.
Prices of live domestic poultry of 700 gm to 750 gm rose from LE 11 to 11.25 and poultry of 950 gm to one kg rose from LE 13.50 to 15.25, and poultry of one kg to 1100 gm rose from LE 15.5 to LE 18. Chicken of 1300 gm to 1400 gm rose to LE 21.
Prices of eggs rose from LE 17 to LE 18 for one cartoon and domestic 30-egg cartoons from LE 20 to LE 22.
Prices of fresh and frozen fish witnessed new increases.
Price of yellow lentil rose from LE 12 to LE 14 per kg and the price of beans from LE 5 to 6.50, and peas and kidney beans from LE 6 to LE 8 per kg.
The Holding company for food industries decided to raise prices of free unpacked sugar produced by the Companies of Supplementary Industries and Delta for Sugar, as well as the Indian imported sugar from LE 2600 to 2680 for one ton for retailers, and packed free sugar of 1 kg packs for retailers rose from LE 2650 to 2730 per ton.
Prices of Ramadan nuts rose in comparison to last year. Rough coconuts rose from LE 12 to 14 per one kg for the consumer, and yellow raisin from LE 11 to 15, Iranian raisin from LE 15 to 18, tamarind from LE 7 to 8, dried apricot from LE 24 to 26, Syrian fig from LE 23 to 25, and dried cherries from LE 18 to 22.
